A 27-year-old Cobourg woman has been arrested for robbery at a local business.
On Monday, at approximately 3:22 p.m., officers assigned to the Safer Streets Cobourg initiative were in the area of Spring Street and King Street East when they heard a disturbance at the entrance of a nearby business.
Through investigation, police determined a female had attempted to steal merchandise.
The woman bit a staff member when they tried to stop the theft. The staff member was treated by paramedics on scene.
As a result, 27-year-old Autumn Nesbitt was arrested and charged with robbery with violence, resisting a peace officer, and failing to comply with a probation order.
The accused was held pending a show cause hearing.
