It was a steamy hot day in the Quinte region Sunday but the high temperature record for the date was missed by just a fraction of a degree.
According to readings taken at CFB Trenton the mercury climbed to exactly 32 degrees celsius at 2 p.m.
The record for a June 22 is 32.2 degrees, set in 1941 during the Second World War.
Meanwhile, the heat wave will continue Monday and Tuesday with highs expected to get up around record territory again at 32 degrees.
Humidex values are expected to reach 40 degrees or more.
