Most Belleville residents who responded to three recent surveys say they want city council to try and hold the line or reduce taxes even if it means scaling back spending on some discretionary services.
Taxpayers were responding to surveys asking for input on Belleville’s 2026 capital and operating budgets.
They show most of the 703 respondents want service levels to remain where they are when it comes to road and sidewalk projects, doctor recruitment, long-term care, and economic development.
Spending on heritage, museums, cultural and community events, and social housing was seen as less important.
