There’s soon going to be a new game in Belleville on the local sporting scene.
On Friday, Mayor Neil Ellis, along with councillors, joined the recently formed Quinte Cricket Association for a sod-turning at what will become the city’s first cricket pitch.
The pitch will be located in Thurlow Park and construction will begin over the next few days.
The association donated $15,000 toward the project.
Cricket is the second most popular sport in the world and is rapidly growing in popularity in Canada.
