Northumberland OPP have charged a driver with impaired driving, after an incident on Highway 401 near Colborne.
On Thursday, close to 9:45 a.m., police received a call about a red sedan driving erratically on the highway. Officers located the sedan and attempted a traffic stop.
The driver did not stop when police flashed lights and sirens at him and only pulled over after an officer pulled alongside his car and verbally instructed him to pull over. The driver stopped on the on-ramp at Toronto Road.
Officers determined the driver was showing signs of impairment, and arrested him. He was taken to the OPP Detachment in Quinte West where a drug recognition evaluation was completed.
As a result of the investigation, 42-year-old Michael Wallace of Toronto has been charged with driving under the influence and dangerous operation.
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
