The Ontario Provincial Police Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team has seized a massive amount of cannabis being grown illegally in Bobcaygeon, just north of Peterborough.
Assistance was provided by the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP and OPP Community Street Crime Unit members in Peterborough/Northumberland and the City of Kawartha Lakes.
Investigators located and seized approximately 3,750 illegal cannabis plants, 12,500 cannabis clones, as well as approximately 430 pounds of dried, processed cannabis. The total value of the seizure was over $4 million.
As a result of the investigation, 50-year-old Xiao Dong, 55-year-old Mei Huang, and 49-year-old Qiaoli Guan from Calgary were each charged with cultivating cannabis without authorization, in violation of the Cannabis Act.
The accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on July 10, 2025.
The investigation is ongoing.
