Quinte West City Council approved the Tourism Development Fund Grant Policy at its meeting on Wednesday.
As part of the recommendation, the Director of Community Services and Strategic Partnerships will be delegated the authority to approve additional grant applications as recommended by the Tourism Development Grant Committee.
Grant applications will be for up to a maximum amount of $10,000 per recipient, provided there is funding available, and following the consideration of first-round intake applications.
An annual budget of $40,000 has been allocated to supporting tourism events in Quinte West since 2022.
Since that time, the City has supported approximately eight third-party tourism events through the Tourism Development Fund at an approximate cost of $80,000.
These events include:
- Big Brothers, Big Sisters Ribfest (2022)
- CSFL Angling Event (2022, 2023, 2024)
- FISA World Rowing Event (2022)
- Baitfuel Angling Tournament (2023, 2024)
- The Great Waterfront Trail Adventure (2023)
- U14 and U16 Ontario Baseball Association’s Provincial Championships (2023)
- The Quinte International Air Show (2024)
- Canada Soccer U15 Toyota National Championships (2024)
