There was a violent domestic incident in Belleville Friday afternoon.
City police say they responded shortly after 4 p.m. to a west-end residence after reports a man
was assaulting a woman and her two young children.
The man was the father of one of the children.
Police say he assaulted his own child and tried to choke the woman while holding her down on the second child.
The man took off but made threats against the family’s lives before leaving.
Officers located a suspect in the east end around 8:30 p.m. and arrested a 27-year-old Belleville man, charging him with aggravated assault and two counts of assault and uttering threats.
