The City of Belleville has announced it has ratified a new four-year agreement with Unifor Local 1839, who represents the city’s transit operators.
The agreement covers the period of April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2029.
It will see the city’s transit operators receive wage increases of five per cent in 2025, 3.5 per cent in 2026, and three per cent in 2027 and 2028.
Other items agreed to are enhanced benefits, improvements to long-term disability and adjustments to procedures that will facilitate improved operations and maintenance of required service levels.
“The new collective agreement was reached through collaborative discussions focused on reaching a fair and balanced agreement that aligns with the city’s commitment to fostering a culture that is productive, respectful, positive, and recognizes the hard work and dedication of city staff,” the city says in a release.
UNIFOR Local 1839 ratified the agreement with their members on June 8, 2025.
