Quinte Mohawk School on Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory celebrates its 50th anniversary this weekend with a special event.
The school opened its doors at its current location on York Road in 1974.
There will be an open house Saturday from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. the school.
Members of the community are invited to come together and reminisce at the school, that for many was more than just a place of education.
A commemorative stone will be unveiled at 1 p.m.
There will also be speeches, displays and pictures as well as light refreshments.
