County Road 36 remains closed after a three-vehicle accident that has sent multiple people to the hospital.
Peterborough OPP and first responders remain on the scene, working on the crash site.
The accident occurred after 8:30 a.m. between the intersections with County Road 507 and Edwina Drive.
A westbound minivan and an eastbound sedan collided, with a third vehicle also being struck.
The drivers of both the minivan and sedan were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the sedan is being airlifted to a Toronto area trauma centre for further treatment. Two youths that were passengers in the minivan were also transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries as a precaution.
The third involved vehicle suffered minor damage and no injuries were reported.
County Road 36 remains closed to all traffic in both directions surrounding the crash. Police are advising motorists to avoid the area and to expect delays.
