On Wednesday, at approximately 5:30 p.m., members of the Kingston Police Patrol Division responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on Bath Road between Portsmouth Avenue and Sir John A Macdonald Boulevard.
Through the course of investigation, it was determined that a vehicle travelling east on Bath Road crossed over the median into the westbound lanes and then onto the sidewalk on Bath Road where it came into contact with a pedestrian who was walking on the north side of Bath Road.
The pedestrian was seriously injured and transported to hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and transported to Kingston Police Headquarters.
Police are seeking to speak with the owner of a Tesla vehicle who may have dashcam footage pertinent to this fatal MVC investigation.
The Tesla was stopped in a line of traffic at a red light, at the intersection of Bath Road and Gardiners Road, at approximately 5:25 p.m. The Tesla was in the eastbound lanes of Bath Road. A black-coloured Hyundai Elantra made an illegal maneuver at the intersection, narrowly missing the Tesla vehicle.
