A BBQ hosted by the Community Development Council (CDC) of Quinte will also serve as an environmentally friendly one.
On Thursday, June 24 the CDC will partner with RainBarrel.ca to offer affordable rain barrels and rolling composters to the community.
Rain barrels save on water bills and reduce harmful runoff while composters reduce waste sent to landfill while creating rich soil.
There are only 299 rain barrels available and they must be ordered by June 17. Those interested can place an order here.
The barrels can be picked up at the event June 24 which runs from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Food boxes for pick-up June 24 must also be ordered by June 17. They can be ordered here.
