The 17th annual Dancing with the Stars Quinte is set to take over the Empire Theatre on Friday.
Project and event manager for Volunteer and Information Quinte (VIQ), Mykayla Harrison, spoke to Quinte News ahead of the event.
She gave a preview of what to expect.
“You’ll come to the Empire, and there will be eight different dance teams that have been practicing for the last four months with a trained instructor or choreographer, and they’re going to put it ll out on the dance floor to win the votes of the audience,” Harrison explained.
“So it’s going to be a nice evening of seeing that but (also) seeing some exhibitions from our dance schools.”
Funds raised from the event goes back into the work done by VIQ.
Harrison spoke about some of the ways the organization gives back to the community.
“We support volunteer programming across Hastings and Prince Edward County, so we work with over 284 different not-for-profit agencies to recruit and refer volunteers for them,” Harrison tells Quinte News.
“That funding really helps eliminate the person power and how much that would cost an agency when they just don’t have it. “
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the show itself beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Harrison says only a few tickets remain.
