Durham Regional Police Service is asking residents to shelter in place after a woman was fatally assaulted in Pickering.
An emergency alert was issued around 5:40 p.m. Wednesday, saying police are now searching for a homicide suspect.
Police say they are looking for one unknown male and are asking residents in the area of 2125 Lynn Heights Drive to shelter in place.
There were reports of a stabbing in the area earlier in the afternoon.
