The sounds of the blues will echo throughout downtown Belleville for two days in September.
The third annual Downtown Belleville Blues Festival goes September 5 and 6.
Co-organizer Carol Feeney says the theme of this year’s festival is Women in Blues.
Audio Player“Most blues festivals don’t really feature women, they’re there but they’re not a real focus and you know we (Tony Vani and Carol) thought why not?? That Women in Blues Revue at Massey Hall in November was fantastic!”
Headliners will be Prince Edward County’s award-winning Miss Emily along with Diana Braithwaite and Chris Whitely.
Admission to the shows is free, but donations will be welcome and encouraged for Gleaners Food Bank.
Gleaners spokesman Jodie Jenkins told the crowd at the festival’s kickoff that demand for food from the organization seems to be growing by the day, adding that all kinds of people need help these days including some working full time.
One of several festival sponsors is Quinte Broadcasting Company (CJBQ, MIX97, ROCK107 and Quinte News).
