With concerns about projected deficits in the early run of the newly merged South East Health Unit (publicly known as Southeast Public Health), the Board of Health received a presentation on “innovation and revenue generation” at its meeting on Wednesday.
Dr. Hugh Guan, Associate Medical Officer of Health and Director, gave a presentation that showed a snapshot of activities within the Knowledge Management portfolio.
It showed different areas of work undertaken, including professional services, data science and surveillance and research.
Over the 2024-2025 year, initiatives within the portfolio with various program teams led to $500,000- $800,000 in direct cost recovery to SEHU or over $1.2 million in funding to wider public health sphere activities.
