This was the second year the awards were handed out.
Nominations ran from March to May this year and reflected the following areas: built environment, customer service, education, employment, information and communication, and transportation.
“On behalf of the City of Belleville, I would like to congratulate everyone who was nominated for this year’s Accessibility Excellence Awards,” said Mayor Neil Ellis. “Your individual and group efforts play a vital role in making Belleville the inclusive and welcoming place that it is today.”
“As a committee, we were very pleased with the submissions received for this year’s awards,” said Accessibility Advisory Committee Chair Councillor Barbara Enright-Miller. “The impacts that all 12 of our winners have made in their community is truly inspiring. Yesterday was an opportunity to celebrate them during National AccessAbility Week, and to bring some much-deserved attention to the important work they are doing in our community.”
