There are new boundaries coming for a pair of schools in Belleville.
Recently, the board of trustees for the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board discussed the school area boundary adjustment affecting Harmony Public School and Susanna Moodie Elementary.
Superintendent of Business Services for HPEDSB Bryce Wilson says there is lots of work ahead, as Susanna Moodie accepts more students for the beginning of the 2025-26 school year in September.

There are 18 portables expected to be on site for the fall.

Wilson says those projects are projected to be completed in the fall.
There is also a renovation of change rooms into washrooms, with a projected completion in late fall or early 2026.
Audio Player“Individual stalls fully private, two accessible washrooms, one universal washroom, and then 17 single-use washroom spaces.”
The 17 single-use washroom spaces are floor-to-ceiling gender-neutral stalls, while the sinks are in a universal common area.
The entrance into the custodian’s office is also in the same universal common area of the sinks, adjacent to the accessible bathroom and gender-neutral stalls.
Audio Player“The sink area will be in common space, outside of the stall area. It’s an open concept, it’s more of an open viewing area for supervision. Staff are able to monitor.
The open concept means there is no door into the common sink area, which enters to the stalls, custodian’s office, and universal/accessible washrooms.
With the boundary adjustments, Harmony Public will decrease by 153 students, while Susanna Moodie will increase by 110.
The project is currently out to tender, which means no contractor has begun the work.
