Quinte West City Council approved a resolution calling on staff to put in an application for the province’s Health and Safety Water Stream Fund for the city’s Trenton Zone 1 Elevated Storage Tank project.
A report to council from Manager of Water / Wastewater Services Matt Tracey, and Special Projects Coordinator Samantha Reid, states that the funding stream has a shared contribution amount set at 73% provincial and 27% municipal.
During discussion on the 2025 capital budget, council approved $1.5 million for the design and environmental assessment costs of the project.
The RFP for the design work on this project was posted in March of 2025 and awarded in May.
In the 10-year capital plan, staff have indicated the construction phase to take place in 2028 with a conceptual cost of $15.8 million.
Applications to the province must be received by June 26, 2025.
Project completion as per the funding requirements is March 31, 2029.
