A delegation from the YMCA of Central East Ontario will be speaking to Hastings County’s Finance, Property, and Personnel Committee Tuesday.
The delegation will update the plans and progress made for a new 60,000 square foot multi-purpose community hub to be known as the
YMCA Centre for Life.
The over $27 million facility will sit on property on the former Quinte Exhibition grounds in Belleville’s west end near the Quinte Curling Club.
The delegation will ask the Committee to recommend County Council support a $100,000 donation toward the capital costs, spread over a
5 year period.
The Centre will feature 2 pools, a whirlpool, a gym, a conditioning centre,, an aerobics/exercise studio, universal and family changerooms,
a lounge and social areas for people of all abilities, kids kare, a children’s treehouse and offices leased by various partner organization services.
Over $16 million of the cost will be paid by the federal and provincial governments. The City of Belleville has contributed $1 million and
the community fundraising goal was set at $9 million. To date almost $7 million of that total has been raised.
