Lee Spafford is getting set to celebrate his 36th birthday on Tuesday, but he was the one giving a present on Wednesday.
The driver for UPS was making deliveries near Dolshire Avenue in Kingston by Bath Road and Tanner Drive, when he noticed smoke and flames coming from a home.
Spafford jumped out of his vehicle and called 911 right away.
With the help of a passing jogger, he went in to help.
That turned out to be a great decision, as an elderly woman was trapped.

“It’s weird getting all this attention now. I didn’t really think anything of it at the time right. Just happy that I was in that right place at the right time.”
“Lee’s heroic actions during the Dolshire Avenue fire were truly remarkable. It’s incredibly inspiring to witness a member of our team rise to the occasion like that. As a Kingston native, I feel an immense sense of pride knowing that someone from our home town made such a significant impact.” Sean Griffin – President, UPS Canada
