A charge has been laid in connection with the death of an inmate at Warkworth Institution in 2023.
Northumberland OPP were called to the prison on May 28, 2023 after one person was seriously injured during an incident involving inmates.
The individual succumbed to their injuries on June 23, 2023 and a homicide investigation was initiated by the Northumberland OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services.
Tuesday, 32-year-old Quinnton Drake of Loyalist Township was charged with manslaughter.
The accused was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg today.
