There will be a grand reopening event for Thrasher’s Garden Centre taking place in June.
Belleville City Council approved a request to make the grand reopening an Event of Municipal Significance, in order to help organizers in their application to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario for a Special Occasion Permit.
In a request for declaration to council, Thrasher’s says the event is scheduled for June 7 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Champagne will be served as part of the grand reopening celebration. No other alcohol will be served.
On the evening of August 20, 2023, much of the business’s main building was destroyed.
David Robertson, 52 at the time of the incident, plead guilty to arson charges.
He was sentenced to one day in jail, in addition to the 11 plus months he has been in custody.
Robertson was also sentenced to three years probation.
In a post on its Facebook page, Thrasher’s says it opened its new building on May 7, 2025.
