Belleville police are looking for three suspects after a young man was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun.
Thursday afternoon around 3:15 p.m., an officer responded to a report of three males acting suspiciously behind a convenience store in the west hill area.
The officer began questioning the males and observed what was believed to be an object concealed in the front of one of the suspect’s pants, underneath his sweater.
During a pat-down, the officer discovered a loaded 9mm pistol.
All three males then fled the scene in different directions.
Additional officers were called in to search the area but the suspects were not located.
Police are working to identify the individuals and are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby cameras and throughout the city as part of the investigation.
