Tweed firefighters were called out to the shores of Stoco Lake early Satuday morning.
The call came in as a house filled with smoke at 1:40 a.m. in the 300 block of Lakeview
Lane.
When firefighters arrived, flames had breached the roof.
The couple that lived in the house escaped safely due to working smoke alarms and the fire was out before daybreak.
The cause is under investigation but is not considered suspicious.
Tweed Fire Chief Derrick Little says the home suffered significant fire, smoke, and water damage to its interior and estimates the damage at around $800,000.
