The amount of construction started in April in Prince Edward County was well down from a year ago, however, the dollar value was higher.
The county’s building department issued 58 permits with a construction value of $12.8 million last month, compared to 80 permits worth $11.6 million in April 2024.
Two industrial permits worth $7.3 million accounted for more than half of last month’s construction value.
Permits were also issued for nine new residences, including secondary suites, in April.
Year-to-date construction remains down from last year.
There have been 177 permits vauled at $37.7 million through the end of April 2025, while there were 237 permits worth $39.5 million during the first four months of 2024.
