Lanark County OPP have laid charges following the execution of an arrest warrant for a person who had been the subject of a social media release.
On Thursday, April 24, 2025, Lanark County OPP officers along with the OPP Tactical Response Team, OPP Canine Units, Emergency Response Team, Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement Squad and Lanark County Crime Unit located and arrested a wanted person at a residence in Lanark Highlands Township.
The accused was the subject of a warrant from an incident on Friday, April 11, 2025 in Drummond-North Elmsley Township where a firearm was discharged at a residence.
William (Willy) Scharf, 51 years old, from North Grenville Township, has been charged with:
· Assault with a weapon – two counts
· Assault causing bodily harm
· Assault
· Uttering threats – two counts
· Mischief under $5000 – two counts
· Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose – two counts
· Pointing a firearm – two counts
· Discharge a prohibited firearm
· Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm
· Unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm
· Fail to comply with Prohibition order
· Driving under Suspension
The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on April 25, 2025.
