In just three short years, the YMCA Strong Kids Pickleball Tournament has surpassed an impressive milestone.
The $200,000 mark was hit on Thursday, during the third annual event.
This year’s tournament was held at the former Cascades plant in Belleville (340 University Avenue).
It pitted Belleville’s Big Dills, captained by Sarah Rozema-Seaton against Quinte West’s Durkin’s Gherkins, captained by Tim Durkin.
Close to 40 players participated, with each raising a minimum of $1,000.
Kurt Gregoire was this year’s top fundraiser, collecting more than $6,000.
Quinte West won the fundraising component of the event, while Belleville won the tournament.
$67,700 was collected for Strong Kids programming at the Belleville and Quinte West YMCA sites.
