In April, investigators from the Kingston Police Intelligence Unit and the Correctional Service of Canada launched an investigation into a Collins Bay inmate suspected of orchestrating the introduction of contraband into Collins Bay Institution using drones.
The investigation concluded on April 3, 2025, with the arrest of a 30-year-old inmate in the custody of Collins Bay Institution. A search of the inmate’s cell resulted in the seizure of two Buck knives, 23 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 54 grams of tobacco, 20 grams of cannabis marijuana and a cellular telephone.
The inmate is charged with: act likely to cause mischief endangering life, possession of weapons dangerous, possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of cannabis for the purpose of distribution.
The inmate remains in custody of Collins Bay Institution pending his appearance in court. The approximate institutional value of the seized items is $23, 295.
