The woman running Land O’ Lakes Food Bank in the Cloyne area north of Kaladar has been awarded a 2023 Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship.
Lois Emond has led the food bank for 13 years ensuring the shelves and fridges are stocked for the vulnerable community in the sparsely populated area and has developed a close relationship with Gleaners Food Bank in Belleville.
She and her husband drive over 200 kilometres a week to pick up supplies, at their own expense.
The Honourable Edith Dumont, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario presented the 2023 citizenship medals to 11 people recently.
This award from the Province of Ontario recognizes people who, through exceptional long-term efforts, have made outstanding contributions to the well-being of their communities.
