Officers from Peterborough OPP have charged three people with impaired driving, in the same 24 hour period.
On March 8, shortly after 9:00pm, an officer was on patrol on Highway 115 when they found a truck in the emergency turn around lane. After stopping the driver, the driver said they were trying to contact their wife. The officer smelled alcohol, and had the driver test on a screening device. After failing the test, the driver was arrested.
A 41 year old man from Kingston was charged with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus.
The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days. They are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on April 1st.
On March 9, just prior to 4:30am, an officer observed a vehicle on Parkhill Road in Peterborough that was driving with out any rear lights visible. The officer conducted a traffic stop and while speaking with the driver, smelled alcohol coming from the driver. The officer demanded the driver test on a screening device, which failed, and the driver was arrested. During the interaction with the driver, it was also determined that the driver was currently suspended from operating a motor vehicle in Ontario.
Connor Cowie, age 23 from Peterborough, was arrested and charged with; operation while impaired, driving while under suspension, drive without proper rear light, and driving a motor vehicle without a valid permit.

The officer saw a vehicle driving at above the 100kmph speed limit, took a speed reading, and then started a traffic stop. While speaking to the driver, the officer smelled alcohol, and demanded the driver take a test with the screening device. After failing the test, the driver was arrested.
Fifty-Six year old Antonio Cruz from Etobicoke, was arrested and charged with operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 and speeding.
The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days. They are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on April 1st.
