The following was submitted by Kingston police:
On February 28, 2025 at approximately 8:05 a.m., two suspects approached a business located on Bagot Street between Princess Street and Brock Street where they threw an incendiary device through the front of the business.
Both suspects immediately fled the area on bicycles after the incident.
On March 4, 2025, 37-year-old Joel Echlin of Kingston was arrested and charged with arson disregard for human life, possession of incendiary material, disguise with intent, mischief under $5000 and two counts of breach of probation.
Echlin was transported to Kingston police headquarters where he was held for a bail hearing.
On March 5, 2025, 30-year-old Kenneth Murphy of Kingston, was arrested and charged with arson disregard for human life, possession of incendiary material, disguise with intent and mischief under $5000.
Murphy was transported to Kingston police headquarters where he was held for a bail hearing.
