A Prince Edward County resident, a retired teacher, author, and most recently a songwriter, has passed away.
Last week, 75-year-old Gord Moran submitted a song to Quinte News, CJBQ, Mix 97, and Rock 107.
Moran rewrote Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive”with a focus on the tariffs and threats made by U.S. President Donald Trump. Original story CLICK HERE
Sadly, just a few short hours before Rock 107 premiered the song, Moran unexpectedly passed away.
Moran’s song “We Will Survive” took off across the Quinte region, Ontario, Canada, and now internationally.
To put the success of the song into perspective, Quinte News has published more than 45,000 stories since being launched in 2008. The song is the most-viewed story in the history of Quinte News.
It has been streamed/viewed more than 131,000 times on our website. That is double our next closest story (59,000 views).
The producer of the song is neighbour and best friend of Gord Moran, Wayne McFaul. Local singer Sonya Zaback lent her voice to the remake.
“We Will Survive” has also been streamed on YouTube nearly half a million times and counting (as of Wednesday March 5, 2025 6:30 a.m.).
