A 76-year-old man injured in a serious collision just east of Peterborough on February 21 has died from his injuries.
On Friday February 21, Peterborough County OPP and emergency crews responded to a serious collision on Highway 7 between Keene Road and Burnham Line.
The collision involved an eastbound tractor-trailer and a sport utility vehicle (SUV) that had turned out from a business on the south side of Highway 7, attempting to cross over to the west lanes. The eastbound tractor-trailer was unable to stop in time and collided with the driver’s side of the SUV.
The driver of the SUV was ejected from the vehicle.
Witnesses came to the aid of the driver until EMS and fire arrived on scene.
The driver of the SUV, a 76-year-old male from Lakefield, was transported to a local hospital and was later transported by ORNGE Air to a trauma centre in Toronto.
On Saturday March 1, due to the extent of the injuries sustained, the 76-year-old driver of the SUV was pronounced deceased.
