The Children’s Foundation’s Guardian Angel Gala, the region’s premier celebration of philanthropy and community commitment, reached new heights this year with an unprecedented fundraising total of $381,000. Last year’s gala raised just over $300,000.
The funds will support The Children’s Foundation’s Reach for Success Scholarship and Bursary program, creating opportunities for children and youth across Hastings, Northumberland, and Prince Edward Counties.
On Saturday, March 1, over 350 attendees gathered at the historic Armouries in Belleville to honour this year’s Guardian Angels, Tom and Golda Lafferty, for their exceptional dedication to community and improving the lives of children through leadership, volunteerism, and financial support.
“It was an incredible night of positivity, compassion and generosity. This year’s gala was a beautiful moment of community coming together,” said Melanie Cressman, executive director of The Children’s Foundation. “Funds raised will directly impact deserving youth, providing educational opportunities that might otherwise remain out of reach. We are excited to help youth chase their dreams.”
Hundreds of donors contributed through sponsorship, auction donations, auction purchases and the Fund-a-Need.
“The overwhelming response to this year’s gala reflects our community’s deep commitment to creating pathways of opportunity for every child,” said Dreya Richardson, TCF donor engagement and event planner. We extend our biggest thanks to Cassandra Bonn and Liz Lehtinen who co-chaired this year’s event. Their unmatched energy and dedication were critical to its success. ”
