The board of health for the South East Health Unit approved its first operating budget at its meeting on Wednesday.
The 2025 budget is $60,277,410. It was prepared using financial information and 2025 budgets from the three legacy health units.
These include the former Hastings Prince Edward Public Health, Kingston, Frontenac and Lennox & Addington Public Health, and Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit.
It also includes a transfer of $1,490,000 in voluntary merger funding from Ontario’s Ministry of Health.
Also included is funding of six per cent for Hastings-Prince Edward, one per cent for Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington, and five per cent for Leeds Grenville and Lanark municipalities to address rising operational costs and needs in the community.
The South East Health Unit will be working as one entity, while determining a base budget for future years.
