A 21-year-old Newcastle resident was charged with stunt driving on Highway 401 in Quinte West Tuesday morning.
Quinte West OPP conducted a traffic stop on Highway 401 east, just after 6:30 a.m. after observing a vehicle travelling at 183 km/hr in a posted 110 km/hr zone.
As a result the driver was charged with race motor vehicle – excessive speed – under the Highway Traffic Act.
Their driver’s licence was suspended, and their vehicle has been impounded for fourteen days.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on April 7, 2025.
