Progress has been made in making Prince Edward County a more accessible community.
During Thursday’s committee of the whole meeting, council received a report from Irene Harris, chair of the Accessibility Advisory Committee.
During her presentation, she highlighted the improvements that have been made to public infrastructure over the last few years.
Some of the accessibility enhancements she praised were the mobility mats at Wellington Beach, expansion of accessible parking, and widespread installations of sidewalk cut-ins that make it easier for people to cross raised curbs.
In the same report, she criticized a lack of provincial funding for accessible initiatives, which slowed down the process.
Council accepted the report, but took no further action.
