With the upcoming winter storm on the way, the City of Belleville and the town of Greater Napanee have declared a significant weather event in anticipation of the snowfall.
The municipalities are advising motorists and residents to use extra caution as they may not be able to meet maintenance standards for roads, bike lanes and sidewalks due to the significant precipitation and conditions expected.
Both municipalities say the declaration will not change how or when the municipality performs its winter maintenance operations.
However, it may take longer than usual to bring the roads back to a state of repair.
The City of Belleville is reminding residents to refrain from parking on roads during this time to ensure effective snow removal.
“Staff have been working around the clock in preparation for tonight’s weather event,” said Belleville’s Director of Transportation & Operations Services Joe Reid in the release.
“Public safety remains our top priority and residents can be assured that we will continue working to mitigate any interruptions or inconveniences as much as possible.”
Updates will be provided through the municipalities websites and social media pages.
