Hastings County’s Community and Services Committee is recommending council delay any decision on whether or not to contribute to the cost of renovating the hall at Belleville’s Alhambra Square to create The Bridge Integrated Services Hub to serve the homeless and vulnerable population.
Belleville council made the request for funding support because the hub will help people from throughout Hastings and Prince Edward counties.
Hastings County CAO Connor Dorey says staff are still waiting to hear from the provincial and federal governments on how much money will be available for homelessness in the next fiscal year.

“We have planned from a staffing perspective to bring forward focused conversations on homelessness funding following operations of the warming centres, April or May, somewhere around there.”
The total cost of the land purchase and renovation of the former banquet hall is around $3 million.
