Bancroft OPP say human remains located in a fire last week have been identified as the resident of the home.
Firefighters, police and paramedics were called to the fire on Meadow Court in Bancroft on Tuesday, February 4 shortly after 8:00 p.m.
The house was fully engulfed in flames when emergency responders arrived on scene.
The homeowner could not be accounted for at the time of the fire.
Human remains were located inside the structure and were identified as the homeowner during a post mortem examination.
Police have not released the name of the deceased.
An investigation in conjunction with the Office of the Fire Marshal, the Bancroft Crime Unit, and the Office of the Chief Coroner determined the fire was not suspicious.
