The following was submitted by Kingston police.
A Kingston resident has been charged in connection with home invasions in Kingston and on Wolfe Island.
A joint investigation by Kingston police, the Leeds County OPP and OPP Criminal Investigation Branch began in October 2024.
On August 22, 2024, Leeds County OPP officers responded to a home on Road 96 on Wolfe Island, where the residents had been assaulted. Then, on September 23, 2024, Kingston police responded to a home invasion in the Frontenac Street and Brock Street area. During the two incidents, one person suffered life-threatening injuries, and three others suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
On February 11, 2025, a search warrant was executed at a residence on Lasalle Boulevard in the east end of Kingston. One person was arrested.
Kurtis Scouten, age 29, has been charged jointly by the Kingston police and OPP with:
- Assault with a weapon – three counts
- Assault
- Aggravated assault
- Use an imitation firearm to commit an indictable offence – two counts
- Break and enter to commit an indictable offence – two counts
- Wearing a mask or disguise to commit an indictable offence – two counts
The accused was remanded into custody following a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston on February 19, 2025.
