The City of Belleville and Quinte Health have announced the signing of Dr. Katherine McArthur through the city’s Doctor Recruitment Program on Monday.
The announcement was made at a meeting of Belleville City Council on Monday.
In a release, the city says that Dr. McArthur is a psychiatrist who will join the mental health team at Quinte Health.
“Dr. McArthur brings a valuable set of skills with her that will help make Belleville a better place for many of our residents and their families,” said Mayor Neil Ellis in the release.
“Council is very pleased that we have been able to partner with Quinte Health to bring her to our community and we know she will provide exceptional care to her patients.”
Dr. Colin MacPherson, Quinte Health Chief of Staff and Psychiatrist, also spoke on the new psychiatrist joining the team.
“The addition of Dr. McArthur will enhance access to mental health services at Quinte Health and we are delighted to have her joining the team,” Dr.MacPherson said in the release.
“The commitment from the City of Belleville to support physician recruitment efforts has had a remarkable and positive impact on local access to care.”
Dr. McArthur says she looks forward to coming to Belleville.
“I value empathy and compassion when working with those who have mental health challenges and look forward to supporting Belleville and the surrounding community as a psychiatrist,” said Dr. Katherine McArthur.
At council on Monday, Mayor Ellis said that this is the 12th doctor to be recruited through the program since 2023.
