Belleville City Council received an overview of the 2025 draft operating budget at its meeting on Monday.
Director of Finance and Treasurer for the City of Belleville, Brandon Ferguson, delivered a presentation to council outlining some of the objectives for putting together the budget.
The objectives include ensuring that residential tax rate increases for areas of Belleville and Cannifton do not exceed 5%, excluding any tax rate increases generated from the phase-in of the 2024 Fire Master Plan.
Tax impacts were outlined in the slide below:

In putting together the operating budget, city staff received community feedback on their priorities.
Priority areas identified include doctor recruitment, long-term care, roads/sidewalks, museum community events and capital.
That survey will remain open until February 13.

The total tax levy increase for the region will be $11,883,700 or 9.4%.

Budget deliberations are scheduled for February 20 and February 21 at council chambers starting at 9 a.m.
