Belleville police responded to 101 calls for service over a 24-hour period from 5 a.m. on February 5, 2025 to 5 a.m. on February 6, 2025.
Attempted purchase of vehicle using fraudulent documents
On February 3, 2025, a local car dealership contacted the Belleville Police Service after employees became suspicious after a customer was attempting to purchase a vehicle over the phone using what was believed to be fraudulent identification and banking information. Members of the Criminal Investigative Division continued the investigation. On February 5, 2025 at 4 p.m., two suspects attended the dealership in person to complete the purchase. Police attended and arrested the individuals without incident. As a result of the investigation, a 61-year-old male and a 31-year-old male both from Quebec were charged with fraud over $5000, identity theft, personation and utter forged documents. Both were held in custody for a bail hearing.
Motor Vehicle Collision
On February 5, 2025 at 8 p.m., an officer on patrol observed a motor vehicle collision on Albion St. A 55-year-old Belleville resident was driving her vehicle when she struck a parked vehicle. Alcohol was not a factor in the collision and there were no injuries, however, her vehicle was no longer driveable. Police were able to locate the owner of the parked vehicle. As a result of the investigation, the driver was charged with carless driving and issued a provincial offence notice. Her vehicle was towed from the scene.
