The combination of snow and freezing rain has been affecting roads and Highway 401 Thursday.
A collision has all lanes closed on the 401 eastbound in Quinte West at County Road 40.
The nearby on-ramp has been closed to traffic.
Northumberland County OPP are telling residents that if travel isn’t essential, please stay home and avoid unnecessary risks.
If you must drive, Northumberland County OPP ask drivers to follow these tips:
- Slow down and drive to conditions
- Increase following distance
- Have full lights on – be visible
- Check road & weather updates before heading out
