A member of the Quinte West Ontario Provincial Police Auxiliary Unit received two awards Monday at the Quinte West Police Services board meeting.
Auxiliary Constable Allen Magee was presented with the 2024 OPP Auxiliary Member of the Year Award recognizing outstanding work in relation to his role.
Magee accumulated over 200 volunteer hours with the OPP.
He has set up local food drives, took part in organizational needs, helped direct traffic at parades, and took part in ride-alongs with officers at Quinte West OPP Detachment.
At the same meeting, Magee was also presented with the King’s Coronation Medal from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Canada’s Chief Executive Officer Steve Sullivan.
Magee has been involved with MADD since 2010, dedicating hundreds of hours to educating the public about the dangers of impaired driving and is currently the chapter’s president.
The OPP Auxiliary Unit is always looking for residents of Quinte West who want to make a difference in the community, assisting the detachment with such things as special events and crime prevention initiatives.
It is also an excellent opportunity for those interested in a policing career to get first-hand experience working in a busy policing environment.
