The Ontario Liberal Party launched the Bay of Quinte campaign in Quinte West Tuesday afternoon.
David O’Neil, a two-term Quinte West councillor, accountant, and property owner launched his campaign to become the Member of Provincial Parliament, where the Bay of Quinte and the Trent Severn Waterway come together.
It is the site of Trent Port Marina, but something much more for the O’Neil family. It is also the home of the Hugh O’Neil Friendship Garden, named in honour of the candidate’s father, who was a long-time politician.
Dave O’Neil was joined by his wife, three daughters, other family, friends, and Liberal supporters.

He says the snap election is unnecessary and expensive.
Audio Player“It’s costing Ontario taxpayers $189 million. Ford has 16 months left in his mandate. The Bay of Quinte deserves better, much better. The Ontario Liberal Party will deliver more for you.”
O’Neil says health care is one of his main priorities.
Audio Player“28,000 people in our riding and 2.5 million people in Ontario do not have access to primary care. Thousands have been on waiting lists for years and BGH (Belleville General Hospital) has one of the longest emergency wait times in the province.”
He says education is also at the top of his list, along with affordable housing.
O’Neil says his experience in real estate and serving on council will help to partner on more homes in the riding and across the province.
