A Brighton man faces serious charges after struggling with police during an impaired driving investigation Friday night in downtown Belleville.
Police watched a driver hit a raised curb, cross a sidewalk, and drive through a snow bank before stopping in a parking lot shortly after 10 p.m.
Police believed the driver had been drinking but the suspect refused to get out of his vehicle and struggled with officers while attempting to close the door on them.
He was taken to police headquarters where he complained about not feeling well because he’d consumed fentanyl and cocaine. Paramedics were called and he was taken to hospital as a precaution.
Police charged the 32-year-old with impaired driving, driving while disqualified, breach of probation and failing to comply with a blood demand.
